When it comes to shounen manga, many will argue that the big three – One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach – are the best choices to pick up. We can’t argue with that. After all, there is a very good reason why they are referred to as the Big Three. However, that doesn’t mean other manga titles can no longer dethrone them. Even though it is not necessarily dethronement and more of succession, newer titles like My Hero Academia, Black Clover, and Jujutsu Kaisen are being heralded to the same glory the first three have enjoyed. There is, however, one new title that makes all of these manga seem lacking. We’re talking, of course, about Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter.

    Discussion Time

Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter follows the titular character as he attempts to save the kingdom of Fecalicium from the heavy onslaught of monsters called Coliform. In his current state, however, he can barely defeat a single Coliform, and these monsters are notorious for coming in droves. Possessing the power to purify the monsters, Nagata is forced on an adventure to recruit special individuals called the Cleaners, who possess similar powers to him.

Why You Should Read Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter

    1. The Perfect Balance of Action and Comedy

When it comes to shounen manga, it can’t just be pure action. There always has to be a tinge of comedy, one way or another. Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter is a perfect example of how this can be achieved. The manga knows the perfect moments to be serious, like when Nagata’s hometown is ravaged by a giant, filthy Coliform called Turd, as well as when to pull out all of the jokes and puns, like when Nagata is chased by millions of Coliform simply because he has forgotten to use Flush – the very first but most important skill he obtained.

    2. Unique Set of Characters

Another fool-proof component every successful shounen manga must have is a varied cast of characters. It is, after all, supposed to be fun and lighthearted. Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter’s main cast is centered around five very different characters. First is the ever-so typical Nagata. Like most shounen main characters, he is loud-mouthed and always seeking the thrill of adventure. Of course, he is also an orphan and has a tragic backstory. Then, there’s his Coliform partner Poo. Poo’s shape-shifting ability is Nagata’s source of power. There are also the twins, Mani and Ure. Completing the gang is the sloppy Stul, who always acts up during the worst possible times.

    3. Breaking All Stereotypes

Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter is everything you don’t expect it to be. It breaks aways from any and every established rule of storytelling, and that is its best charm. As amazing as the manga’s deviation from normalcy is, we believe it is a huge disservice to reveal anything more than we already have. That being said, you will have to find out for yourself just how interestingly unique this manga really is.

    Final Thoughts

Even though the Big Three are in no way bad, they are also not the epitome of shounen manga. At least, that is what we’ve realized after reading Nagata: The Strongest Poo Fighter. This manga is perfect in every aspect. It really can’t be faulted, especially since such a manga doesn’t exist. At least, not while this article is being written. Why did we even bother writing this article, you ask? Well, because… April Fools!
