Top 5 Anime Husbandos of Fall 2021
Husbandos. We can’t live with them and we have to live without them. You know how you see that impossibly gorgeous guy? Or that one that just has that charisma? Or that one whose precious persona just shines right through? Well, in anime, we call that guy—the one who every girl falls for and wishes were real, the one who every guy wants to be like and tries to (you’re not fooling anyone)—a husbando. Larger than life and, sadly, reality. So with the Winter season upon us (2022, when did you get here?! ), let’s take a look back at the Top 5 Husbandos who all of us fell a little bit in love with this Fall!
5. Takt from Takt Op. Destiny
Blunt, unapproachable, and apparently almost always self-serving, one could be wondering why someone this unsociable and embittered would make the list. But Takt is also so much more. His bluntness and cold persona (tsundere much?) are just a result of the harsh reality he lives in, having lost his beloved music due to the horrifying D-2s who are drawn and inclined toward mass destruction at the slightest melody. A gifted pianist, Takt is one of the select few who can be a conductor (person who guides a musicart, don’t get us started). He decided to pursue this ‘job’ not only because it allows him to play music in spite of heavy restrictions but it’s also the only way he can work toward saving Cosette (swoon). So prodigious, persevering, and protective… all that, and those big blue eyes that give Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen a run for his money, how could Takt not make the list?
4. Tamahiko Shima from Taishou Otome Otogibanashi (Taisho Otome Fairy Tale)
Next, from arguably one of the sweetest and most wholesome romances, we have Tamahiko Shima from Taishou Otome Otogibanashi. Having lost all function in his right arm in a tragic accident that killed his mother, Tamahiko has been ‘killed off’ by his family and sent to live the rest of his ‘shameful and useless’ existence isolated and away from society. Jaded, depressed, and extremely cagey when it comes to people, this kind-hearted young man just needed a warm touch to melt his surface-level iciness to reveal a gentle nature topped off with the most endearing awkwardness when it comes to any form of emotional intimacy. Utterly clueless and utterly adorable, you won’t be able to resist wanting to shower Tamahiko with some TLC. No wonder Yuzu fell in love so quickly, we can hardly contain ourselves!

3. Lugh Tuatha Dé from Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru (The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat)
Typically, one wouldn’t think that an assassin would make for a great husbando, however, one hasn’t met Lugh Tuatha Dé. Strong, silent, and skilled, Lugh has the cool boy vibe down to a tee. From what we’ve seen so far, the man (boy?) is practically incapable of failure and is ridiculously successful in pretty much any endeavour he undertakes. Not to mention, he also has a secret soft side under his icy exterior. Silver eyes and silver hair, Lugh has an otherworldly quality (literally, as an isekai protagonist) that just amplifies his already magnetic persona, so it’s no surprise that he has a harem of beautiful young women chasing after him. And if brunettes suit your tastes more than blondes, then there’s always his alter ego, the equally charming Illig Balor, who has all of Lugh’s qualities but as a bespectacled, brunette ikemen. What’s not to like, emotional constipation aside?
2. Hitohito Tadano from Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu.
No. 2 on our list may be a surprise for some, but we at Honey’a Anime can’t help but adore Hitohito Tadano from Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. Selfless, sweet and so very oblivious, Hitohito embodies the soft-boy vibe. He gallantly offers to help the lovely yet isolated and anxiety-ridden Komi out of the sheer goodness of his heart and commits himself to the cause wholeheartedly (it’s no joke, the all-but-mute Komi wants to make 100 friends). Furthermore, Komi Can’t Communicate has made waves with its beautifully-stylized art, and Hitohito is no exception. While no one can compete with Komi’s sleek character design, Hitohito exemplifies the cute, boy-next-door look. Considerably simpler, he may not meet the conventional bishounen standards, but his appeal comes in part, from the contrast with Komi, and in part, from how genuinely good his character is. In an anime that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, Hitohito is single-handedly responsible for at least half of that feel-good fuzziness, so how can he not have a special place in your heart?
1. Sesshoumaru from Hanyou no Yashahime: Sengoku Otogizoushi- Ni no Shou
They say old is gold, and No.1 on our list is definitely a solid testament to the proverb. Sesshoumaru has stood the test of time and has continued to make Top Husbando lists long after Inuyasha ended. He’s like a fine wine, getting better with age; though he’s definitely survived the years between Inuyasha and Yashahime without having aged at all (being a full demon does that). Fans everywhere have waxed poetic about Sesshoumaru’s silvery mane, ethereal splendour, and dignified, haughty grace; so we don’t really have to. Instead, we’d just like to point out that the protective dad streak that we get to see in Yashahime just further reinforces the same soft side we’ve seen him show with Rin, the delightful contrast being what keeps his reign as No.1 Husbando going. That, and that hair.
Final Thoughts
And that’s it for our list! With all the great husbandos (and waifus) out there, it’s a shame we’re resigned to experiencing them from this side of our screens. So if reality isn’t your thing at the moment, instead of cuffing this season, cozy up with your favourite husbando and dream away. Do you agree with our picks for Top 5 Husbandos?
