Tokyo Ghoul was a hit when it first aired, and these two had a lovely dynamic that built up the world of ghouls in a natural way. If your friend turned for the worse cold you stick by his side and keep him hidden from the world? Well, Hide went that far for Kaneki, showing just how much love he harboured for his best friend. However, with these two barely getting any screen time, they are bottom of the list. The final moments between these two characters coming together at the end of season two, one of the best moments of the entire Tokyo Ghoul franchise, made it worth the wait seeing a bromance come full circle.
4. Hinata and Kageyama from Haikyuu!!
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, as the saying goes, and that's undoubtedly how Hinata and Kageyama develop the best sporting bromance in anime. Playing volleyball against each other in middle school as rivals only to end up as the most dynamic high school pair in the sport attests to the strong relationship the two form after training and playing together. The relationship that develops between the two is unparalleled in sports anime with Hinata trusting his new teammate to spike the ball blindly. This move is worked on throughout the show, resulting in some amazing setups from Kageyama for Hinata against stronger teams as they

3. Meliodas and Ban from Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)
Meliodas is a difficult character to like as many shonen protagonists can be, with the over-the-top aspects of their personality exaggerated for comedic relief. This is best balanced in The Seven Deadly Sins with the antithesis of a shonen protagonist, Ban, being the group's bad boy. The two’s relationship allows for a comedic back and forth, with their history providing a depth in character development not often seen in a shonen anime. Like any good shonen friendship Ban and Meliodas have built their relationship on mutual respect for each others fighting ability, constantly trying to one-up the other. Even when Ban is offered the chance to bring back the love of his life by killing Meliodas, Ban can’t go through with it even when Meliodas gives it the okay. With their shared acknowledgement of their mortality, the two characters often appear toxic to each other, but as almost unkillable beings, it gives Ban and Meliodas humanity in their interactions.
2. Takeo and Sunakawa from Ore Monogatari!! (My Love Story!!)
When two childhood friends are close enough to know everything about each other, that’s the perfect spot for a bromance to bloom. Takeo and Sunakawa are opposites, with one being a larger than life, bear-like judo expert and the other a composed pretty boy, its no wonder they bring the best out of each other. Takeo is the only character that brings his best friend’s emotions out, and Sunakawa is there to help Takeo navigate the complexities of high school romance. Sunakawa even admitted he will reject girls just for insulting Takeo, not letting his own popularity get in the way of their friendship. The two complement each other so well that it takes a bit of attention away from the show's main romance couple.
1. Reki and Langa from SK∞ (SK8 the Infinity)
Skateboarding is an extreme sport full of thrilling tricks, jumps, and grinds, but the soul of this show lies in the infinite bond between two best friends that stole the hearts of the internet. Reki and Langa begin their bond as classmates but quickly develop a personal relationship over skateboarding. Despite having conflicts over differences, they quickly make up and return to form in their mutual love of skateboarding. However, their bond is shown during one of these conflicts when the two are so dejected at not speaking to each other that Langa’s mom thinks he is having ‘girl trouble’ and is talking about a girl he likes. The best indicator throughout the show of their bromance is Reki’s willingness and joy over making a custom skateboard for Langa, helping the snowboarder adjust to the new sport through tailor-making him his own hybrid board with shoe-straps. Bonding over introducing someone to a sport is a quick way to go from acquaintances to best friends as the shared love these two have for the sport blossoms into the best bromance encapsulated by Langa jumping into Reki’s arms after winning a deadly downhill race.
