Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 + Happy Home Paradise - The Island Has Expanded!

    [ad_top1 class="mb40"]

During probably one of the harder times for the entire world, a special game called Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released. While previous Animal Crossing games were loved by many, this newest entry in the series made the exploring/simulation game even bigger and better. To make Animal Crossing: New Horizons even larger—a thought we deemed impossible—a new update and some DLC has dropped that have given players a whole slew of new activates to participate in, and several quality-of-life improvements. Let's talk about the 2.0 update, the DLC titled Happy Home Paradise, and why you need to boot up your Nintendo Switch and get these updates now!!

    Update 2.0 is HUGE

We expected the so-called "final free update" to be quite exuberant, but wow…our expectations weren't ready. If we were to list all of the updates, this article would be a laundry list of content, so we'll just focus on some of our favorite new additions that really make update 2.0 stand out so much. Not only has there been a ton of new items added—get ready to redecorate your homes folks!—but there have been numerous new places unleashed on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, such as a café run by Brewster—one of several returning Animal Crossing characters—and the ability to cook! A lot of these in-game add-ons must be unlocked through playing the base game, though. Newcomers, don't expect to see all of 2.0 from the gate.

A Happy Home is a Fun Home

Gamers who love titles like Minecraft or The Sims because they allow home development and decoration will no doubt want to focus on the new paid DLC in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Dubbed Happy Home Paradise, this almost entirely new game allows players to go to a new island where they get to live as dream decorators. This might seem like a chore—and it is considered work in the game—but trust us, this new DLC is a lot of fun for those bored of the base game. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise, your goal is to become a designer for villagers. You will learn what they love, how they envision their perfect house to be, and make that dream come to fruition. Building your own island paradise has always made Animal Crossing: New Horizons an addictive experience. Now, it's like resetting your experience and doing it again...but for others and in a more structured way. Happy Home Paradise is $24.99 unless you have Nintendo's newest subscription service with an expansion pass, then the DLC is free.

    Wringing Out Every Last Drop

Having had Animal Crossing: New Horizons for more than a year—and investing a lot of time into it—has left us here at Honey's Anime restarting our experience a few times after we grew bored. What's amazing about update 2.0 and Happy Home Paradise is that these allow us to resume our experience with New Horizons and play through it in an entirely new way. The multitude of content add-ons for the base game gave us new ways to change our islands, and the new DLC gave us almost an entirely new game to enjoy. Animal Crossing: New Horizons feels like it's making sure every penny gamers spent on it is deserved and used, which is a rare feat for most games nowadays.

Make Sure to Beat the Base Game

We noted this above but update 2.0 is semi-unlocked from the gate and also not. Many of the additional elements require players to have beaten most of the base game—aka met with the cool K.K. Slider and saw the credits—so if you're new, you might want to just download the update and not purchase the Happy Home Paradise straight away. We're not saying a fresh run of Animal Crossing: New Horizons doesn't warrant the DLC purchase and update but don't rush to get the DLC if you're still building your island from the start.

    Final Thoughts

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise are pretty large quality-of-life improvements to an already stellar title. Not only does the update provide tons of new areas to explore and items to nab but the DLC almost could sell for a full-priced title! Animal Crossing: New Horizons has gotten even larger with these two additions, and there's little to no reason why fans shouldn't download these updates ASAP!
