Erotic malice isn’t innately born. There will come a time for one’s sexual awakening. Before that awakening, there’s only cute and adorable innocence. That’s the time when hugging and kissing are no more than skin touching. If not for adults giving meaning to it, there’s nothing bad about it. Well, these moments, of course, become a rather awkward memory in the future. Nonetheless, it’s a nice phase to look back to every now and then.

    Discussion Time

Just like most series nowadays, The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious’s title basically serves as its synopsis. The story revolves around a maid and her young master’s daily interactions. There’s nothing really special about it. In fact, they are actually rather mundane. They simply exchange a few lines, then proceed to create a weird atmosphere out of it. There are literally no other characters other than them, so the series is really just about them both.

    1. Adorable Innocence

The reason why the maid, Lilith, and her young master, Yurri, misunderstand each other is because of the latter’s innocence. He’s yet to develop emotionally to understand his attraction towards Lilith. Since the story is set in what seemed like a Medieval Period setting, he often accuses Lilith of using supernatural means in order to bewitch him. Lilith, being the more mature one, perfectly knows that she’s not doing anything occult. But since her young master’s truthful words come from his heart, Lilith is pleased. His innocence is quite adorable, which basically makes us anticipate what sentence he will misunderstand next.

    2. Entertaining Light Read

With only two characters, at least in the first volume, there really isn’t any intricate plot. In fact, there really isn’t much plot in the first place. Keeping this in mind, the series becomes really entertaining. The dialogue is in no way complex, and their interactions are especially not special. Despite this, their interactions feel very natural and rarely seem forced. Seeing them unintentionally mess with each other has a strange appeal that makes us crave for more.

Why You Should Skip The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious Vol. 1

    1. Easily Gets Repetitive

The chapters follow a simple pattern. Lilith will do something which Yurri will find strange, then as Lilith tries to explain the reason behind it, Yurri misunderstands it completely. This will then lead to Yurri trying to investigate and solve that occult mystery, which will then lead to Lilith being flattered. Afterwards, the chapter ends. This is basically how each chapter goes, and it can be quite annoying and tiring after three or so chapters. Fortunately, the plot will, if there’s one, seems like it will progress in the next volume.

    Final Thoughts

The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious is definitely not a cut above the rest, but it’s also not a piece of trash. Even though it’s not a masterpiece that will probably go down in history, it’s not a bad series to pick up to read with a cup of hot coffee. It doesn’t offer much in terms of plot, depth, and complexity, but it has an innocent allure that makes one curious how things will unfold. Plus, we’re digging Lilith’s purple eyes.
