Playing games, be it action, adventure, RPG, or otome, is a good pastime and stress reliever. It’s also a good escape out of this miserable world. In fact, it’s too good of an escape that we often wish to live in the world where certain games are set. This is basically the concept some titles take. The main character somehow gets transported in an otome game and does their best in order to avoid getting that dreadful ending. If what we’re talking about seems familiar, the series My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! might have come into mind. However, this isn’t what we’ll be talking about today. Rather, today’s star is I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss.

The story follows Aileen d’Autriche. Yes, we didn’t even try pronouncing her name. Aileen’s first life is rather unfortunate. She’s quite sickly that she passes on before even enjoying her youth. Before she knows it, she’s now living as the villain in one of the otome games she’s played. In fact, she only recollects her memory of her past life when her long time fiancé annuls their engagement. Facing the possibility of meeting her doom, she does her best in order to survive. The only path she believes is correct is marrying the demon king!
1. Brave-hearted Protagonist
Fearing almost nothing, Aileen faces every challenge thrown at her head on. Be it her fiancé’s plot to humiliate her, her father’s sadistic schemes, or her impending doom, Aileen keeps a cool facade and continues her ways. A huge contributing factor to her braveness is her memories from her previous life. The fact that she knows the world she’s walking on almost like the back of her hand, albeit sometimes delayed, allows her to plot plans with high success rates. Not only that, it also gives her the courage to do typically reckless stuff. For example, proposing to the demon king!
2. Winning Against All Odds
Aileen isn’t the most fortunate of individuals. For one, she’s very sickly during her first life that she wasn’t able to enjoy her youth. Another is when she actually gets sent to another world, her fiancé annuls their marriage. Her hardships don’t even end there. The other characters continue to antagonize her, even her father is a big stressor. Despite all these challenges, Aileen doesn’t waver. She stands still and faces everything head on. She isn’t like the weak protagonists from other series, which also results in multitudes of her victories.
[ad_middle class="mt40"]1. Otome Incarnate
This is technically an otome series. That’s not really a bad thing. It’s just that it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. Even though the series is actually set in an otome world, Aileen doesn’t want to enchant a slew of men. Instead, she has her eyes set on the demon king. That being said, this isn’t the typical romance with a shy protagonist. Aileen is very straightforward and doesn’t even bother with pleasantries. She dives head on, and that’s the charm of the series. Nonetheless, steer clear of this series if such isn’t to your liking.
Final Thoughts
You may not normally be a big fan of the romance genre and It’s not that you hate romance, it's just that you don’t easily get butterflies in my stomach. You might then feel that these series are quite bland. You may find that in I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss some scenes that might pique my interest. It may not be a full-blown love fest, but it definitely is something.
