You may think that this is about Tamotsu Kurita. Well, not really, as the main character is Momoyama herself. The story is about how she, as an otaku, balances between her job as a school nurse and her hobbies and interest. The way she has to maintain her financials to get the merchandise she needs, gathering information from shops that buys and sells certain products, limited-time events, gacha games, comikets and more. Also, have to give her credits for being serious in her job as a nurse when situations call for it.

2. References

Some chapters and scenes talk about famous series or games you can find in real life. Such references were used as topics for characters to talk about and brings people together. Of course, that doesn’t happen to some people as there will be haters out there, which is true in reality. They may have similar husbandos or waifus as yours, but they can be terrifying when you step on the landmine and how hardcore they are. So please, do not make the situations awkward, ask for the staff's help when such a situation is at your doorstep and be considerate of others.

1. Where is the Plot?

Kurita does have crush on Momoyama and you'd think that the "crush" would be the main focus. Yet, in this story the romance between the student and the hot nurse isn't the real story. The story is manily about a woman that makes no excuses for who she is, a nurse that is good at her job, and an otaku. So if you are not interested in the story, but more about having fun in certain events or hobbies, don’t take this manga seriously.

Hokenshitsu no Otaku Oneesan wa Suki desu ka? (Do You Like the Nerdy Nurse?) is a simple, short manga that depicts what nerds or otaku do during and outside of their jobs for their hobbies. It reminds us of how we, like adults, have some sides that can be considered childish to some people. But at the end of the day, everyone has hobbies of their own, and the money they earned and spent is up to them that could bring happiness to their lives mentally. People who share the same interests with you might become your acquaintance, friends or worst, haters, but that is just life. The main drawback of this manga is that this there is no story development, and we were hoping for progression between Kurita and Momoyama. Alas, such a dream has not become a reality in this realm. All we can do is use our imaginations to think about their future. So do keep in mind that if you choose to buy this manga, not for the sake of the story and focus on the otaku culture, you can give this manga a try.
