We’ve seen Ruri’s adventures on the first volume of The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap. We’re not gonna lie, it has captivated our poor little hearts, and we’ll warn you now. If you haven’t read the first volume yet, then why haven’t you? It’s really interesting, so stop reading this article and either read our review on the first volume or buy it and read it. Now, for a short recap. The series is about Ruri and her friend, who has been summoned into a new world. It turns out she’s pretty amazing, and we’ll leave it at that.

Discussion Time

It’s been quite a wait, but it’s finally here. We get to see the continuation of Ruri’s adventures and her connection with fairies. This time, however, there isn’t much abuse or anything of that sort. Ruri has already found her way to the kingdom of dragons. What’s more, is that she is already treated properly for being beloved by fairies. But there’s a catch. Humans aren’t really that accepted in where Ruri currently is, so she has to maintain her cat form every time she’s in the castle. The fact that she lazes on the Dragon King’s lap most of the time doesn’t help her cause.

1. No Stressful Scenes

In the first volume, we’ve been told how bad Ruri has been treated thanks to her friend. Not only that, but the humans have also treated her very awfully. They even banished her from the kingdom, which is the reason she stumbles upon the old woman’s hut. In this volume, however, there aren’t any stressful moments. The volume is pretty lighthearted and fun. It’s more about Ruri exploring how her new world works, as well as building her connection around the kingdom.

2. Character Development

As we’ve previously stated, Ruri has been pushed around a lot. Because of that, she’s grown into this naive character. However, this changes as the story progresses. It actually started in the first volume during her training to control her power. The fruit of it, however, can only be seen now. Although Ruri is still very easygoing, she isn’t such a pushover anymore. In fact, she even handles the simpleminded faeries with ease. There is still more room to grow, but we at least know that Ruri isn’t the kind of heroine to remain stupid forever.

3. Spring is About to Come

The most unique element that’s been introduced in the second volume is the romance between Ruri and the Dragon King. We’re not really surprised since the title of the series is a dead giveaway. Still, it’s about time we see some of that romance and get our hearts beating. But hold your horses. Even though there are already hints of romance in the air, these two haven’t progressed much yet. They’re taking their sweet time too!

Final Thoughts

We’re pretty big of The White Cat's Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King's Lap, so we’re pretty giddy when the second volume came out. Rightfully so, we aren’t disappointed. The second volume is better than the first one purely because there aren’t any stressful scenes this time around, so it’s more of a nice, sweet read.
