    1. It’s Not as Bad as You Think, Not Really…

The story begins with Peter just been crowned the winner of the grand tournament. He was waiting for this moment as this achievement is the prerequisite to gain the blessing from Luvellia’s father to marry her as they have dated for the 2 years. Luvellia’s father is too overprotective, which makes Luvellia unaware of how the human reproduction system works. She even thinks praying to god is a way to make babies… So she doesn’t know about sex, and you know how other girls see Peter. They really really wanted his seed badly, so they forced it on him. Of course, Peter does feel bad because he is the kind of person who devotes only Luvellia. It is not the end of the world for Peter, we mean he was forced to bang all kinds of warriors. Most probably because he was blackmailed by the girls, so he didn’t have much choice. Also, the girls are incredibly thirsty for his genetics to create stronger bloodlines no matter where they are, be it outdoors or around his lover. It is also probably difficult to swallow a pill for Peter as Luvellia is the purest and innocent character in this manga, so the fact that he slept with three girls, in this volume, so far made him feel worst.

    2. It Is… Surprisingly Funny

With Peter’s intense devotion to Luvellia, it is used as a foundation to create comedic elements in this series with the presence of non-human female warriors. The characters who were targeting Peter have all kinds of personalities and interests which make different situations that bring at least dilemmas of how he should act to keep them from Luvellia. Please don’t blackmail people no matter the circumstances, it’s not cool and immoral. The characters’ expression whenever they argue, interact, or sometimes contemplating their life decisions along with the context of the discussions made us laugh and feel sorry for Peter at the same time. The manga is more of a guilty pleasure as the harem, but not the kind of harem where the protagonist wants to be with a group of girls. And let’s not forget the father trope in this manga, Luvellia’s father, of how he receives the news that his daughter decided to marry Peter while trying to not succumb to the urge of killing Peter and taking his daughter away from him.

    3. Inconsistent Artworks and We Loved It

The character designs are clean and simple, but that wasn’t the highlight of the artwork. The main star of the artwork is the characters’ close-up expressions and the balance of simplicity and detailed characters and backgrounds based on the angle and distance.

Why You Should Skip Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time)

    1. Not Ecchi in Terms of Looks

If you thought this manga has nipples and some nude scenes. Actually, there are a lot of nude scenes, but there are no nipples or any indication of their private parts, so they are pretty much censored by having those areas blank. So the fanservice in this series is almost none in this case. The ecchi element of this manga focused more on the words the mangaka used to describe sexual activity and conversations.

    Final Thoughts

Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan (Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time) is a manga where older teens can enjoy laughs and giggles from the unfortunate experience from our main protagonist Peter Grill. Although the story of this manga focuses on comedy, what drew us into this series is how Luvellia would see Peter if she finds out the fact that he slept with other women and how Peter resolves his situation. The artwork is inconsistent yet straightforward and beautiful to show the casual side of the manga. Again, if you’re into comedy and don’t mind about the non-existing nipples and sexual words, you might be interested in this one and just have fun reading it. What are your thoughts on this series?
