Anime Birthdays: Shinji Ikari Celebrates his Birthday Today!

• If there's any name that resonates powerfully in the anime world it's most definitely Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion. This iconic franchise has seen incredible success, with the show receiving accolades and awards from all different directions, plus a more recently updated version on Netflix (which did receive some controversy).
• Shinki is known as the 'Third Child' and pilots the iconic Unit 01. He is the son of Gendo and Yui Ikari, but was actually abandoned by his father during early childhood. This left a mental scar on Ikari's conscience which we evidently see during his battles, etc. He typically panics very easily and reacts quite carelessly to events that are out of his control.
• Once Misato comes into the picture however, we see a dramatic shift in Shinji's character, as he becomes more outspoken about his feelings, confident in his approach, and less fearful when it comes to dealing with serious issues.
