- We haven't even stepped into the scorching hot months of summer yet and already we're receiving some incredibly big news out of the gaming world! Geoff Keighly kicked off the highly anticipated gaming event 'Summer Game Fest' earlier today and what fans were greeted with was a taste of next-gen gaming.
- Straight out of the gates players were thrown into a new dimension filled with extremely high polygons, dynamic lighting, all running at a glorious 60fps on brand new hardware. This was the unveiling of Unreal Engine 5, the latest engine brought to us by the geniuses over at Epic, where CEO Tim Sweeney talked about the tech specs, while Geoff translated all of the information for fans tuning in.
- While much of the event was purely focused on unveiling Unreal 5 and discussing the specifics behind the development process (Nanite and Lumin as examples), what was shown was absolutely breathtaking and one can only feel just how much passion was put into this new high performance engine. The demo shown felt like running through a highly upgraded Tomb Raider but without Lara at the wheel, though the main protagonist demonstrated just how fluid the character movement was, along with how the environment reacts in a more realistic movie-like fashion. Just watch the 9min reveal above to get a sense of what we mean but we're truly excited to see more out of Unreal 5, which is slated to go into preview in early 2021 and officially launch in the later half of the same year for all current gen and of course new generation consoles. While you're at it, why not grab some wallpapers too?! How many of you are excited for this? Let us know!
