Prince of Tennis is Back! New 20th Anniversary Anime Project Announced!

• Very early this morning in Japan, it was revealed through the June issue of Jump SQ Magazine that a brand new anime for Prince of Tennis (Tennis no Ouji-sama) will receive a new anime! This new anime project is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the original TV series, and Takeshi Konomi, the series creator, drew a brand new illustration to celebrate the announcement.
• The name of the new anime project is Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama: Hyoutei vs Rikkai - Game of Future (The New Prince of Tennis: Hyoutei vs Rikkai - Game of Future), and will tell an original story which will feature the heated match between Hyoutei Academy Secondary Department and Rikkai University - Affiliated Middle School. The first team will be led by Keigo Atobe while Rikkai will be led by Seiichi Yukimura.
• This is a completely brand new direction in the story as even the manga hasn't explored this new direction! Keiichirou Kawaguchi, who's known for the original Prince of Tennis, will be directing. Mitsutaka Hirota will be in charge of script writing, while Akiharu Ishii will be the one designing all of the characters. Konomi will be supervising the new project, which we're already pretty excited about!
