We know that every human being possibly has an innate necessity of wanting to feel needed. It does not matter if it’s from a friend, significant other, relative, or even a dog, we just love feeling wanted. We don’t mean by the police, either. Being summoned to another world often instantaneously solves this issue. After all, why would they choose you among millions of others if not, right? In Saitou’s case, he was randomly transported into another magical world as is. Who did it or for what reason they did it, we don’t know. What we do know is that Saitou was not given some flashy heroic skill, an all-powerful weapon, or an unreal amount of mana. He only has his uniform, tools, and himself. Despite that, he is quite useful in his team. The series follows Saitou’s adventure alongside Raelza the female warrior, the forgetful wizard, Morlock, and one maderaka fairy Lafanpan. As for what maderaka means, you’ll have to find out yourself.

Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku is a breath of fresh air when it comes to the isekai genre. It does not have that standard OPness. In fact, Saitou-san cannot even handle himself when faced with the weakest mimic. Saitou, however, takes care of everything a handyman could do; from picking locks to fixing armors and weapons. It’s actually nice to see a normal person live an unnormal life in a fantasy game-like world. In addition to that, the art is also amazing. There are times when some parts were randomly colored. It’s basically more of a painting than a colored sketch.
1. It’s Short
Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku is a 4-Koma, meaning an entire chapter only has four pages. Despite that, this series does not fail to start and finish without leaving the readers hanging (most of the time). Since each chapter is short, this is basically a good go-to manga in between breaks. We’re not saying that we read a chapter in the middle of writing an article, but...
2. Witty Lines and Funny Moments
Another thing that we love with this series is that it is funny without needing to force the jokes. The jokes are also placed in the right places and do not come off as annoying. The whole series is filled with a heck ton of unexpected twists and punchlines that will surely make you chuckle.
3. A New Perspective
Unlike other isekai manga, Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku shows us that it is possible to be special without being granted some sort of overpowered skill. This kinda makes our heart thump a bit faster. It may actually be due to laughing our asses off, but we’re not crossing this off our list just yet.
[ad_middle class="mt40"]1. Green as Green Can Be
Although the series is actually pretty funny, there are a lot of green jokes mixed in as well. Actually, that might just be an understatement. There’s around one green joke (toilet humor) or punchline in at least one out of five chapters. In fact, there are chapters dedicated to such green jokes. Just take the chapter defining what a maderaka is for example.
2. No Exact Plot
Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku is actually more of a gag manga than that which tells a whole story. Although it does still have arcs, most of the chapters are one-offs. If you are looking for a long meaningful plot, then this series may not be for you.
Final Thoughts
Benriya Saitou-san, Isekai ni Iku (Handyman Saitou in Another World) is a breath of fresh air in the (reincarnated) world of isekai. It focuses more on being funny than telling a story. Honestly, that’s exactly why we love it. It’s perfect when you need a good laugh, but has little time on your hands. We do want to emphasize that the series has a heck ton of green jokes and rarely has a deep plot. If you’re not into these kinds of things, then better put this back into the bookshelf. On the other hand, those who are a child at heart would definitely find this delightful.
